He focuses on the La Tene and older Roman Iron Age periods in Central Europe. Particularly studied topics: pottery as an archaeological source, urbanization processes in the Iron Age, the economy of the Younger Prehistoric period, transport and distribution in the Younger Prehistoric period, Celts and Germans as social constructs.
